In cold and blusterly conditions a large field gathered as Sydney Striders' Keith Bateman's attempt on the O/55s world record for the mile came within 0.4 of a second with his outstanding effort stopping the clock at 4.37.30 for the mile.
In other events, Ailsa Cree created a new Australian record for the mile in the O/80s women's category with a time of 13.02.06 while records were also created in the O/40 and O/45 women's mile events .
