What is Illawong Athletics' philosophy?
Illawong Revesby Workers has adopted a philosophy that a successful athletic club should be built on a friendly and social platform and then, not only will athletes of ALL levels of ability compete, but also the overall standard will increase.
Illawong Revesby Workers will continue to provide competition for all levels of athletes from the elite to the recreational, from the junior to the veteran athlete.
During the summer season the club will endeavour to offer regular meets for all members, and the public, to attend. Keep an eye on this website ot our Facebook page to see when any events may occur.
Illawong Revesby Workers also encourages its more serious athletes to compete in the Saturday afternoon competition organised by Athletics NSW.
Where are we?
llawong Revesby Workers Athletics is located at The Ridge Athletic Track, Recreation Drive, off New Illawarra Road, Barden Ridge. The has excellent facilities and equipment including electronic timing and photo finish of all races.
How do I join Illawong Athletics Club?
How do I become part of a team at the relays (cross country / track & field)?
- Each season the club appoints a manager to each age group (e.g. U/16 Males). Each manager will be listed (with contact details) on the club website once they have been determined.
- The club provides each manager with a listing of all registered athletes in their respective age group. The listing is in order of performances during the season.
- The manager, prior to each team or relay event, will contact you to determine if a team will be participating.
- If you have not been contacted at least one week prior to the event please see either the team manager or one of the committee members.
How do I join the committee?
The committee are always looking for people that have an interest in the sport to join and become a committee member.
No prior experience is required and there are a number of roles available that do not require your attendance at the monthly committee meetings.

What fund raising does the club do?
- Conducting the annual State Cross Country Relay Championships at Miranda Park
- Providing volunteer marshalls and course coordinators for the Sydney Half Marathon in May
- Providing volunteer marshalls and course coordinators for the City to Surf in August
- Conducting the annual Revesby Workers' Club Father's Day Fun Run
- Equipment and facilities hire for school athletics carnivals throughout the year
What insurance coverage does the club have should I get injured?

WHAT IS THE SCOPE OF COVER?
- Competing in official club, state and national events.
- Organised training or practice sessions for activities as described in (a) above.
- Travelling directly between activities in a) or b) above, and your residence or place of employment or the premises of Athletics Australia or its affiliated Associations or Clubs.
- Staying away from your home district during a tour for the purpose of participating in sanctioned activities.
- Engaging in voluntary, administrative or organised social activities of Athletics Australia or its affiliated Associations or Clubs.
What assistance does the club provide to talented athletes?
Currently the club seeks to provide the best facilities at the best price to all members.
Free membership is provided to talented athletes of the club that have represented NSW during the prior season or at a major athletics meeting (e.g. Sydney Track Classic) and have also represented the club in 50% of specified events in either Cross Country or Track & Field that include Club Premiership, NSW State relays, Club Championship and State Cross Country events. Dispensation may be provided at the discretion of the committee.
Travel assistance is provided to athletes at the conclusion of each season and is at the discretion of the committee.
Travel assistance priority is given to those athletes who have been selected to represent Australia at international level including Olympic Games, World Championships and Commonwealth Games.
How do I obtain a new uniform?
- Illawong Singlet/Crop Top and Black shorts
- Illawong Singlet/Crop Top and Black briefs/tights
All Singlets and Crop Tops are subsidised by the club and cost $25 per item.
