Illawong ventures to the Gold Coast

While many of you were thinking about that Sunday morning run after the Endeavour Cup a small number of our intrepid members were warming up on the Gold Coast for the half and full marathon.

Conditions were ideal, with record numbers in both events.

The Illawong charge was led by Robyn Basman in the half marathon recording the outstanding time of 1.30.18 and finishing first in her age category. Congratulations Robyn.

She was closely followed by her partner Brian Mackie who cracked the 1.50 barrier for the first time with 1.49.41.

Di Lister attempting her first half marathon on an interrupted preparation completed the Illawong trio in the time of 2.43.59.

In the marathon dad of Georgia and Saturday regular Neil Anderson broke 3.30 in a great run to record 3.29.57.

Our secretary Ian Lister, attempting his first marathon, finished in 4.24.15. Claims that he slowed in the second half as Di was waiting for him at the 35km mark remain unsubstantiated.
